The perch salmon (Percopsidae ( gr . Perke = perch, ops = similar)) are a family of small North American freshwater fish , consisting of just one recent genus ( Percopsis ) with two types exist. The fish resemble the gudgeon , but are not related to it.
features
Bass fish have both ridge and round scales . The head is scaly, the vomer toothless. The pelvic fins sit far down on the body. An adipose fin is present. The lateral line organ is complete or almost complete.

species
- Percopsis omiscomaycus ( Walbaum , 1792) lives in North America in rivers thatdraininto the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean . In the eastern United States, it occurs south to the Potomac River in Virginia . Also in the Yukon River in Alaska , the Great Lakes, and the Mississippi River basin ; 20 centimeters long.
- Percopsis trans montana ( Eigenmann & Eigenmann , 1892) lives endemic in the catchment area of the Columbia River in Idaho , Washington and Oregon ; 9.6 inches long.
Tribal history
The perch fish with the extinct genera Amphiplaga , Erismatopterus , Lateopisculus and Massamorichthys have been identified as fossils from the Eocene 50 million years ago.
