Perieți [ ˈperiet͡sʲ ] is a municipality in Ialomița County in Wallachia , Romania .
Geographical location
The municipality of Perieți is located in the Bărăgan Flatlands in the east of Great Wallachia , north of the Ialomița River . The four incorporated villages Fundata in the north, Misleanu in the west and Stejaru or Păltinișu in the east, are located 2–6 kilometers from the community center. The place Perieți is about 10 kilometers west of the district capital Slobozia .
Population and education
In 2002, of the 3667 inhabitants, 3663 referred to themselves as Romanians and four as Roma .
There is a primary school in the Misleanu district and a school up to grade 8 in Perieți. There are further educational opportunities in Slobozia, approx. 10 km away. However, part of the population dropped out of school after 6 or even 4 years.
Economy and Transport
The main industry is agriculture and animal husbandry. Corn and grain are grown. There are also a number of small businesses that are often from the construction industry.
The European route 60 , one of the two main arteries of the west-east connection from Bucharest to Constanța, runs through Perieți . The Urziceni – Țăndărei railway station on the municipality's territory is in the incorporated village of Fundata.
