location

The hamlet is located east of the municipality on the plateau of the southern Franconian Jura . From the state road 2394 there is a branching road to Pestenrain between Wildenstein and Predlfing . The hamlet can also be reached from the neighboring town of Eutenhofen .

history

In 1333 the monastery in Neuburg an der Donau owned property in Pestenrain, for which Dietrich the Schenk von Flügelsberg was responsible as monastery bailiff.

When the plague raged in Dietfurt during the Thirty Years' War and there was hardly any space left for the many dead, they are said to have been brought to Pestenrain for burial.

In a description of the rain district from 1830 it is said that Pestenrain consists of two houses with 14 inhabitants.

Before the Bavarian territorial reform , the hamlet belonged to the Riedenburg district court in the Regenkreis (renamed Upper Palatinate in 1837).

In the course of the territorial reform of 1972 Pestenrain became part of the city of Dietfurt in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt, since the district of Riedenburg was dissolved.
