history

After the end of the Old Kingdom, the church village became a place in the Riedenburg district court . In 1831 Arnsdorf consisted of 19 houses and 120 inhabitants. In 1838 the register of the diocese of Regensburg recorded 18 houses and 102 “souls”.

Catholic Church of St. Jacob

The church was a side church of Altmühlmünster; As a branch of the parish of Zell , it is now part of the parish Altmühlmünster-Mühlbach-Zell in the diocese of Regensburg. The sacred building is a late Romanesque complex (around 1200-1250) with a three-storey church tower with four gables, each with a clock, and a pointed helmet, which was added to the north of the choir in the 19th century. The triumphal arch and the nave windows were changed in the 17th century. In 1677 the Dietfurt carpenter Jakob Argauer made an altar for the church that was no longer in existence. The current four-column altar is baroque in appearance; the altarpiece shows the apostle James the Elder , represented with scallops and a pilgrim's bottle. Figures of saints Christophorus and Wendelin flank the picture. The ceiling painting depicts the coronation of Mary and shows an older view of the town.
