Petar Kapisoda ( Serbian - Cyrillic Петар Каписода ; born June 26, 1976 in Cetinje , SR Montenegro , SFR Yugoslavia ) is the sports director of the Montenegrin men's national handball team and a former Montenegrin handball player , who was mostly used in the left wing position.

Athletic career

The 1.88 m tall and 85 kg heavy right-handed player began playing handball in his hometown at RK Lovćen Cetinje . After the first professional season he moved to RK Crvenka , from where he moved on to RK Partizan Belgrade after another season . With Partizan he won the Yugoslav championship in 1995. In 1996 he switched to city rivals RK Roter Stern Belgrade , with whom he won the title again in 1997 and 1998. Then he returned to his hometown club in Cetinje. There he won further championships in 2000 and 2001 and the 2002 cup. In the 2002/03 season he played again for Partizan and won his sixth national title. He then joined the Bosnian-Herzegovinian club RK Bosna Sarajevo , with whom he won the 2004 trophy. After two seasons he signed with the Croatian serial winner RK Zagreb , where he won the championship and cup in 2006 and 2007.

He then returned to Sarajevo. There he won the double in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and the title again in 2011. At the end of his career he moved to Lausanne for the Swiss third division club West HBC . He ended his career after the 2012/13 season.

National team

Peter Kapisoda played for the national team of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and their successors Serbia and Montenegro and Montenegro.

With the Yugoslav selection, he won the bronze medal at the 1999 and 2001 World Championships . He finished fourth at the 2000 Olympic Games . With Montenegro he took part in the 2008 European Championship and reached 12th place. At the 2013 World Cup , he was only 22nd and third from bottom. At the end of his career, he and his team defeated the German team in qualifying for the 2014 European Championship , in which he no longer took part.

Professional career

From November 2013 to November 2016 Kapisoda was the sports director of the Montenegrin national team. In January 2019 Kapisoda was elected President of the Montenegrin Handball Federation.
