Pete Saberton

Pete Saberton (born July 9, 1950 in Sheffield , England ; † March 21, 2012 ) was a British jazz pianist , keyboardist , composer and music teacher .

Live and act

Saberton grew up in Sheffield and studied classical piano at the Royal Northern College of Music . He had been active in the British jazz scene since the 1970s, where he initially worked with his friend Pete Hurt ; he achieved his breakthrough on the album The Year of the Buffalo (1984) by saxophonist John Williams , for which he wrote the music that was later performed again by the London Jazz Orchestra . He also worked a. a. with the BBC Radio Big Band , Henry Lowther , Stan Sulzmann , John Taylor , Kenny Wheeler , Eddie Parker , Peter Fairclough , Mike Westbrook and Graham Collier . He also accompanied Mark Murphy , Mel Tormé and Vocal Summitt with Norma Winstone and Urszula Dudziak and led his own bands. He has taught at the Royal Academy of Music , Trinity College of Music, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama .
