Peter Baum (writer)
Peter Baum (born September 30, 1869 in Elberfeld (today a district of Wuppertal ), † June 6, 1916 near Keckau / Riga ) was a German writer .
Life
Peter Baum came from a family of manufacturers Hugo Baum . After attending secondary schools in Elberfeld and Heidelberg , he began a commercial apprenticeship , which he broke off. He became a partner in a small Leipzig bookshop . He then went to Berlin , where he attended lectures in art and literature at the Friedrich Wilhelms University . In Berlin he was a member of the tunnel over the Spree from 1892 until the poets' association was dissolved in 1898 .
Since 1898, Baum was in contact with Peter Hille's circle of authors . He became friends with Herwarth Walden , on whose magazine “ Der Sturm ” he worked. Baum was a member of the life-reforming association “ The Coming ” and was close to the “ New Community ”. He was considered the closest confidante of Else Lasker-Schüler . After the divorce of his first marriage to Johanna Mathilde Stivarius in 1913, he was married to the artist Jenny Boese. Peter Baum, who at the beginning of the First World War as a volunteer had reported that fell in 1916 Baltics .
Peter Baum's work, which is stylistically attributed to early Expressionism , includes novels , short stories and poems .
