Peter Dürr (born February 10, 1960 in Munich ) is a former German ski racer and windsurfer . After two German runner-up titles and a participation in the world championship in windsurfing, he started a career as a ski racer in the 1980s, in which he took part twice in the Winter Olympics and in the disciplines of downhill and combined he was among the top 15 in a world cup race nine times and achieved a podium finish. He was also twice German runner-up in the downhill. He is the father of the ski racers Katharina and Lena Dürr .

Career

At first, Dürr was successful in windsurfing. He achieved seventh place at the 1979 World Cup in the Bahamas and was German runner-up in 1979 and 1981. In alpine skiing, Dürr had greater successes from 1982, when he won World Cup points for the first time on February 14, 1982 when he was fifth in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen combination and thus achieved his only top 10 placement in the World Cup for almost six years. Several times he narrowly missed the top 10. In the 1982/83 season , eleventh place in the downhill from Val-d'Isère was his best result and a year later he was 13th in the combination of Val-d'Isère and twelfth in the downhill from Cortina d'Ampezzo . Dürr also secured a ticket for the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , where he started in the downhill, but was the only one of the 61 runners who did not reach the finish.

In the 1984/85 season Dürr only won World Cup points once in 13th place in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen combination and then remained without points for two seasons. Only at the beginning of the 1987/88 season he was able to score again with 15th place in the downhill from Val Gardena . A month later he was 13th in the downhill from Bad Kleinkirchheim and on January 29, 1988 he surprisingly achieved third place in the downhill on the Planai in Schladming and thus the best World Cup placement of his career. So he was able to take part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary . In Nakiska , where all ski competitions took place, he was 21st in the downhill and 17th in the combination, whereby he had reached fourth place in the combination downhill. In the 1988/89 season Dürr's best result was an eleventh place in the downhill from Laax , after this season he ended his career.

Dürr remained loyal to skiing. He became German team champion in carving in 1999 and 2000 and was overall winner of the German Carving Cup in 2000. In 2001 he became German champion in synchronized skiing. Today the policeman is an alpine sports warden at the Bavarian Ski Association and trainer of a school team.
