Peter Dannenberg

Peter Dannenberg (born May 21, 1930 in Potsdam ; † March 9, 2015 in Kronshagen ) was a German music critic , music writer and artistic director .

Life

After studying in Kiel and Freiburg i. Bro. Dannenberg was the feature editor in Kiel. From 1969 then chief music editor and chief music critic of the world ; from 1974 in the same position at the Stuttgarter Zeitung . He was a permanent contributor to most of the German radio stations, the Opernwelt magazine and other periodicals. From 1977 to 1986 he worked under the directorship of Christoph von Dohnányi as chief dramaturge of the Hamburg State Opera and at the same time head of the experimental stage of the Opera Stabile with numerous world premieres in opera and concerts, among others by Wolfgang Rihm , Heinz Holliger , Manfred Trojahn , Wilhelm Killmayer , Aribert Reimann , Günter Bialas , Isang Yun , Rolf Liebermann or Udo Zimmermann . From 1987 to 1990 he was deputy director of the Frankfurt Opera , from 1990 to 1995 general director of the stages of the state capital Kiel and from 1995 to 2004 finally director of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra .

Since 1989, Dannenberg has been chairman of the Alexander Zemlinsky Fund at the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna for life. From 1990 to 1997 he was deputy chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein regional cultural association .

Dannenberg died after a long, serious illness on the night of March 10, 2015 at the age of 84 in Kronshagen, Schleswig-Holstein.
