Peter Ernst von Podewils

Peter Ernst von Podewils (* 1690 ; † November 28, 1755 in Berlin ) was a Prussian officer , most recently a colonel and commander of the Friedrichsburg citadel .

Life

Peter Ernst came from the well-known noble family of Podewils , who lived in Pomerania . His father was Melchior Ernst von Podewils. He was married to Margarete Marie von Manteuffel († 1730), daughter of Gerdt von Manteuffel (1644-1722), heir to Herr auf Brutzen , Buslar , Jeseritz and 1/2 Sanskow and Sophie Marianne von der Goltz . Several children emerged from the marriage, including the Prussian major general Friedrich Wilhelm von Podewils (1723–1784).

Podewils was a landowner in Pomerania . He was the heir to Schwartow in the Principality of Cammin , which had been in the family since 1523. In 1738 he sold the estate to Margaretha Sabine von Manteuffel († 1749), wife of the later Prussian major general and heir to Petershagen Moritz von Galbrecht . In return, he acquired shares in the Klein Reichow family estate, which had also previously been long-standing, in 1744 .

Podewils also served in the Prussian Army . After he advanced to the position of major in the "von Kleist" infantry regiment No. 26 , he became lieutenant colonel in May 1741 and colonel and commander of this regiment in May 1745 . In May 1748 the king gave him the position of commandant of the Friedrichsburg citadel near Königsberg .
