Peter Hajek (journalist)

Peter Hajek (born July 19, 1941 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist , screenwriter and director .

Life

Peter Hajek studied newspaper sciences after graduating from high school in Vienna. In 1959 he began his journalistic career with the Austrian daily Kurier . He also wrote articles for various magazines, including Der Spiegel .

Hajek, who was interested in film, then presented the series Apropos Film on behalf of ZDF and ORF . For this he was awarded a Golden Camera . The show ran until 2002. In 1969 he wrote the scripts for the spectacular ORF show Wünsch Dir was with Dietmar Schönherr and Vivi Bach .

Hajek also staged plays for television such as Who was André Heller? . But Hajek's name became famous through his television shows, such as Margot Werner , Margot bis Monday and Twilight of Longing . In 1976 he founded the production company mungo-film together with Helmuth Dimko .

In 1982 Hajek produced his first feature film with the comedy Be tender, Penguin . The biographical film Helnwein about the Viennese artist followed in 1983 . For this film he received the Grimme Prize and the Eduard Rhein Prize . The television series Mozart and Meisel , which was broadcast in 1986/87, also came from Hajek. Between 1988 and 1992 he produced the television series If the Neighbors Knew . The crime series Kommissar Rex , which he also wrote, was very successful .
