Peter Hofbauer (born May 24, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian television producer , theater director, musical writer and private lecturer .

Life

Hofbauer studied at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna , received his doctorate in 1973 and is a member of the K.Ö.HV Mercuria Vienna. He was also the publisher from 1976 to 1980 and editor-in-chief of the ÖCV magazine Academia from 1974 to 1977 and is still close to the ÖCV and its association today. Today he is still active in the editorial team of the Academia and appears at events of his old association. In 1970 he received his Magister Juris and completed his doctorate in 1973.

From 1974 to 1979 he worked as an employee of Radio Lower Austria, where he helped to set up the family department. Among other things, he moderated the program "Walk in". He then took over the chief administration of ORF-F2 and worked there in the television youth department, as well as being in charge of establishing the full program. In 1983 he took over the departments of cabaret and light music and in 1988 became senior director of television. In 1987 he produced the six-part television series Mozart and Meisel . From 1990 to 1995 he was head of entertainment at ORF. He then took over the Wiener Metropol as a private operator , which at the time was about to be dissolved. Hofbauer took care of the economic renovation and re-established the theater in Vienna. In addition, he wrote several musicals , such as the comedy Pension Schöller by Wilhelm Jacoby and Carl Laufs (premiere: April 11, 2012) and Charley's aunt , both together with Vicky Schubert , and the Italo-pop musical Ti Amo together with Markus Gull and that Musical "Go West" (with Andy Lee Lang in the lead role).

Since 2005 he has moderated the weekly series Words on Radio Wien . He has been a private lecturer at the Vienna Conservatory since 2011. In 2014 he took over the management of the festival at Weitra Castle .

Peter Hofbauer currently lives in Neustift am Walde . He has been married to Vera Russwurm since 1985 . The couple has three daughters and runs the Hof-Power company, which, among other things, produces the weekly talk show Vera Exclusive (ORF).
