Research priorities

profile

Hofmann determines the rationality of theology with regard to transcendental philosophical concepts, but above all from the coherence of beliefs and the plausibility of the decision to believe and the experience of belief.

In view of the insoluble theodicy problem, the question arises whether an antinomic theology can appreciate the cause of atheism.

In addition, literature , art and music are places of theological knowledge for Hofmann (studies on Goethe , Richard Wagner , Theodor Fontane , Karl May , Gerhart Hauptmann , Johannes Brahms , Jean Sibelius , James Ensor , Dmitri Schostakowitsch , Arno Schmidt and others).

Memberships

Hofmann belongs to the board of trustees for the Pope Benedict XVI Institute. in Regensburg and the Advisory Board of the Yearbook for Fundamental Theology and Religiology (Roczniki Theologii Fundamentalnej i Religiologii), Catholic University of Lublin / Poland .

He is a member of the Johannes Brahms Society Hamburg , the Karl May Society and the Society of Arno Schmidt Readers .
