Peter Kreysler

Peter Kreysler (born June 1967 in the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania , Africa ) is a German journalist , radio journalist and documentary filmmaker .

Life

Peter Kreysler was a child of the World Health Organization working physician Prof. Dr. Joachim Kreysler and Helga Kreysler were born in the East African Usambara Mountains. In 1975, after moving to West Berlin, he attended the Anna Freud High School and then studied French and history at the Sorbonne in Paris.

His interest in a critical examination of the German cultural scene led Kreysler first to Berlin, then to North Rhine-Westphalia to the Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim. In 1987/88 he was responsible for the three theater trailers shot for Roberto Ciulli's productions , film director: Hans Peter Clahsen , the nationwide free cinema use and thus established a close partnership between the public space of the " theater " and the cinema operators, especially German arthouse cinemas .

From 1988 to 1995 Kreysler worked on research and developments for various television and cinema projects, including Moment Poland , Clowns in the Night , Everything according to plan in the West . In 1997 he accompanied the cinema project The Story of Monty Spinnerratz , directed by Michael F. Huse , to the USA and coordinated the dubbing for the international exploitation in the Warner Bros. studios in Burbank , California .

From 1999 to 2000, on behalf of the Center for Art and Media Technology , Kreysler worked for the multimedia project Knowledge, Information and Communication for the Expo 2000 in Hanover, following his own radio reports and interviews, among others. a. with Noam Chomsky and for his book. Kreysler directed the documentary films Verbotene Frucht , 2002, DW-TV , from Iran and together with Elise Fried in Brain Edema Patients and Clinical Trials , 2007, for the National Brain Tumor Foundations of the US, Canada, New Zealand & Australia.

His partnership with the American filmmaker and artist Fried led to Kreysler's move to San Francisco , California and the expansion of the Flying Fish Production in 2002 . This collaboration resulted in international radio features including a. for Deutschlandfunk , the radio stations of the ARD , the BBC and for the National Public Radio . For their radio feature about the global diamond trade: Brilliant shops , 2000 for DLF, WDR, the duo received the Ernst Schneider Prize in 2001.

Peter Kreysler's center of life has been back in Berlin since 2009. He develops journalistic topics that are published as radio features, reports and television documentaries both in German-speaking countries and translated into foreign languages.
