Peter Kuras

Peter Kuras (born May 8, 1958 in Dessau ) is a German local politician of the FDP . Since July 1, 2014 he has been Lord Mayor of the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau .

Life

Kuras grew up in Dessau. After graduating from the Philanthropinum Dessau in 1976 , he did his basic military service with the NVA . From 1978 he studied shipbuilding at the University of Rostock . Peter Kuras is married to Veronika Kuras geb. Forest and has two children.

Political work

Kuras joined the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany in 1983 and is a member of the FDP. On June 15, 2014 Kuras won the runoff election against the incumbent Klemens Koschig and became Lord Mayor of the independent city of Dessau-Roßlau on July 1, 2014.
