Peter Monk

Peter Mönch (* 1937 ) is a German actor .

Life

Mönch completed his acting training at the Zerboni Drama School in Munich . After that he worked mainly as a theater actor . He had permanent engagements at the Die Kleine Freiheit theater (1960–1964), the Volkstheater Munich (1969–1972), the Stadttheater Luzern (1972–1977) and the Stadttheater Konstanz (1977–1979).

In between he played theater in South America for several years , including from 1965 to 1969 at the Deutsches Theater in Buenos Aires , and in Brazil .

He had guest contracts at the Trier Theater (1965), the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern , the Westphalian State Theater and the Heidelberg City Theater . He also went regularly with various theater productions on tour , including that of Margot Medicus -led theater group "Stage 64 Zurich". At the Karl May Festival in Bad Segeberg in 1971 he appeared as Old Shatterhand .

Mönch played a broad repertoire on the theater stage , which included the dramas by William Shakespeare , the German-speaking authors of the Classical and Romantic periods , but also plays from the turn of the century, modern and contemporary theater.

His stage roles included: Orlando in As You Like It (1965, Stadttheater Trier), King Ferdinand in Verlorene Liebesmüh (Volkstheater Munich), the title role in Amphitryon (Volkstheater Munich), Major von Tellheim in Minna von Barnhelm (Volkstheater Munich) , King Philipp in Don Karlos (Stadttheater Konstanz), Shrewsbury in Maria Stuart (Theater Heidelberg), the Spreeschiffer Wulkow in Der Biberpelz (Theater Heidelberg), Consul Bernick in Die Stützen der Gesellschaft von Henrik Ibsen (Theater Heidelberg), Puntila in Herr Puntila and his servant Matti (theater tour in the Netherlands), father Knie in Katharina Knie (Theater Konstanz) and the title role in Romulus by Friedrich Dürrenmatt (Westphalian State Theater).

Occasionally, Mönch also took on a few film roles in movies and television series , including in The Strange Methods of Franz Josef Wanninger and SOKO 5113 . A participation by Mönch in the movie Old Shatterhand (1964) listed in the film database IMDb could not be verified on the basis of the staff and cast lists of the Karl May movies.

In 2011, he was seen in the ARD television series Rote Rosen in several episodes (episodes 1114–1115 and 1123–1124) each in a leading role. He embodied the Dane Jesper Lynggaard, the official head of the Hanseatic delegation.

Mönch, now officially retired, still occasionally takes on guest roles in film and television and performs with reading and recitation evenings, including works by Bertolt Brecht . Mönch lives in Waalhaupten near Buchloe .
