Sanna Markkanen (born April 14, 1990 in Leppävirta ) is a Finnish biathlete .

Athletic career

Sanna Markkanen lives in Leppävirta and works for Leppävirran Viri . She was initially a cross-country skier . Since 2007 she took part in races of the Scandinavia Cup and in FIS races. For the 2010/11 season she switched to biathlon. She competed in her first international race in 2011 as part of the IBU Cup in Nové Město na Moravě and was 63 in singles and sprints. The 2011 Biathlon Junior World Championships followed in the same place , in which the Finn finished 19th in singles and 32 in sprints , 40 in the pursuit and ten in the relay. This was followed by appearances in the junior races of the Biathlon European Championships 2011 in Ridnaun , where Markkanen was 45th in individual and sprint, and was taken out of the race as a lapped runner. Finland was also unable to finish the mixed relay race because it was lapped. The 2011 biathlon world championships in Khanty-Mansiysk became a first career highlight . At the competitions in Siberia , the Finn was used in the sprint and finished 95th.
