Career
Hamburger SV 1969–1980
In 1969 Nogly moved together with Siegfried Beyer from the northern regional division 1. FC Phönix Lübeck to Hamburger SV. While Beyer was unable to assert himself in the Bundesliga, Nogly rose to become an indispensable part of the HSV defense. In 1976 the HSV was runner-up and won the DFB-Pokal in 1975/76 with a 2-0 win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern , with Nogly scoring the goal to make it 1-0. HSV was thus represented in the European Cup Winners' Cup in the 1976/77 season . In this European competition, Nogly confirmed its reputation as the oak in defense. Hamburger SV won the cup against the Belgian defending champion RSC Anderlecht .
The title was won in the Bundesliga in 1979, drawn into the European Cup final of the champions in 1980 and the runner-up in the Bundesliga was achieved in 1980. In 1980 Peter Nogly ended his successful career at Hamburger SV.
National team
Despite a deployment in the U-23 in 1971 against Albania, Nogly did not manage to get past Wolfgang Weber , Klaus Fichtel and Georg Schwarzenbeck . In 1976 he was part of the EM squad in Yugoslavia. It was not until February 23, 1977 that Nogly made his debut in the national team in a 1-0 defeat in Paris against France. Only three other appointments followed.
