career

The defensive player of the DSC Wanne-Eickel, which was only founded in October 1969, won the championship with the black and yellow from the Sportpark Wanne-Süd in the 1977/78 season in the Westphalia Association with five points ahead of SpVgg Erkenschwick in Group 2. In two games, the local competitor from Sportfreunde Wanne prevailed against 1. FC Paderborn (2: 0/1: 2) in the finals of the Westphalia Championship. The team, supported by contractor Robert Heitkamp, achieved promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in the group matches against SC Viktoria Köln, VfL Wolfsburg and 1. SC Göttingen. The promoted team succeeded in 1978/79 with 35:41 points in 13th place in the group north and Wieczorek had played in 37 league games in the defense. The German Sport Club started in the 2nd Bundesliga on July 29, 1978 with a 2: 4 away defeat at Hannover 96. The team of coach Günter Luttrop and teammates Norbert Lücke (15 goals), Klaus Wischniewski , Roland Kosien and Ingo Peter surprised with relegation.

In the second half of the season Wieczorek was brought in by the then responsible DFB trainer for the amateur national team, Erich Ribbeck , in three international matches in April, May and June 1979. The DSC defender made his debut on April 18 in Pristina in the international match against Yugoslavia in the DFB amateur team. Valentin Herr was in goal and together with Rainer Rühle , Walter Kubanczyk and Josef Stadler , he formed the defensive in the 2-3 defeat. On May 9th, the DFB hosted the next international match for the amateurs and played against France in Le Havre. The defensive formation was changed compared to the game in Pristina only in the personnel with Rainer Prieß for the absent Ulmer Kubanczyk. The game was lost with 1: 3 goals. Wieczorek's third mission in a row took place on June 6th in Cadiz against Spain. Now Roland Dickgießer from SV Waldhof and Hans-Jörg Stiller from Fortuna Düsseldorf made their debut alongside Rühle and Wieczorek in the DFB defense. In the third international match, the man from Wanne-Eickel celebrated his first victory in the national dress with a 4-0 win. When the Olympic qualification began on September 13 with the game in Oberhausen against Finland, the DSC player was no longer a member of the DFB amateur squad.

Under the new coach Anton Burghardt , the team from Herne 2, DSC Wanne-Eickel, took 11th place in the 1979/80 season and was clearly behind the relegation ranks with 36:40 points. With the voluntary return of the professional license to the DFB in the spring of 1980, the adventure of the 2nd Bundesliga for the DSC and Peter Wieczorek ended after two rounds. The defensive player had played 32 league games in the second year alongside goal scorer Lücke (17 goals), goalkeeper Heinz Blasey and ex-Schalke Jürgen Sobieray . With the 1: 3 away defeat at the runner-up Rot-Weiss Essen - with Willi Lippens and Frank Mill - the chapter 2. Bundesliga ended on May 31, 1980.

The ex-amateur national player remained loyal to the DSC in the amateur league of Westphalia and won the runner-up in the 1984/85 season with his club. In the games for the German amateur championship , he and his teammates - including Norbert Lücke and Ralf Regenbogen - reached the final on June 22, 1985 in Bremen against the amateur team of Bundesliga club SV Werder Bremen. The Werder amateurs with Gunnar Sauer , Dieter Eilts , Dirk Lellek and Frank Ordenewitz prevailed with a 3-0 victory.
