Peter Winterhoff-Spurk (born July 2, 1945 in Grimma ) is a German psychologist , author and publisher .
Life
After his birth in Grimma, Peter Winterhoff-Spurk grew up in Wuppertal . There, as well as in Rheda and Bielefeld , he attended school. From 1962 he completed an apprenticeship as a savings bank clerk . From 1965 to 1969 he was a temporary soldier in Rotenburg (Wümme) , Sonthofen , Feldafing and Starnberg . He then passed his Abitur on the second educational path at the Westfalen-Kolleg in Bielefeld. From 1971 to 1977 he studied psychology and sociology at the Philipps University in Marburg . He then worked until 1983 as a research assistant at the Department of Psychology of the language psychologist Theo Herrmann at the University of Mannheim , where he received his doctorate in 1983 . From 1983 to 1988 he worked as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy , Psychology and Education, where he joined in 1988, studies on the question of the TV influence on the world knowledge of the audience habilitated . From 1989 to 1992 Winterhoff-Spurk was the deputy professor for applied psychology at the University of Saarland from Diether Breitenbach and was there from 1992 to 2010 professor for media and organizational psychology . From 1993 to 1999 he was director of the Media Psychological Research Institute Saarland (MEFIS eV), in which media science projects were carried out for non-university clients. The funds thus generated were used to set up a media psychology laboratory at Saarland University, to co-finance the magazine 'Medienpsychologie' and to hold conferences and lecture series. Furthermore, Winterhoff-Spurk was a founding member of the Saarbrücker Medientage in 1990 and of the Bad Boller Medientage in 2004 .
However, the media psychological research institute had to be liquidated after only a few years due to unsuccessfulness, although the Saarland state government set an annual support amount in the state budget in the six-figure range and the institute was able to use a representative state property on Saarbrücken's Ludwigsplatz. This meant that the partial financing of the “Zeitschrift für Medienpsychologie” had to be ended; As a result, Winterhoff-Spurk no longer played a role in the context of the magazine that used the cut to internationalize and professionalize itself. Support for the “Saarbrücker Medientage” also had to end after six events; the series of events was discontinued immediately afterwards. The Bad Boller Media Days ended after even fewer events. In recent years, professional winter-Spurk devoted barely media psychological issues, and with his retirement , the Chair Winterhoff-Spurks at the University of Saarland was settled. In 2010 he founded the small publishing house JG Seume in Leipzig, which has produced fewer than a dozen publications since it was founded. The publishing house is now based in Saarbrücken.
