Petri Ylönen (born October 2, 1962 in Helsinki ) is a former Finnish - French ice hockey goalkeeper who played for the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League from 1986 to 2002 . His son Sebastian is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Petri Ylönen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior division of TuTo Hockey , for whose professional team he made his debut in the I divisioona, the second Finnish division, in the 1986/87 season. Then the goalkeeper moved to the Diables Rouges de Briançon in the French Ligue Magnus . In France he was able to convince immediately and won the Trophée Jean Ferrand as the best goalkeeper in the Ligue Magnus in 1988 and 1989 . From 1989 to 1996 he was under contract with his league rivals Dragons de Rouen . During this period he was French champion five times in 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995 . In addition, he was runner-up with his team in 1991 and 1996 and received the Jean Ferrand trophy as the best goalkeeper in the Ligue Magnus three times in a row in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

From 1996 to 1998 Ylönen stood between the posts for the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League . Then the two-time Olympian paused for two years with ice hockey before he was active from 2000 to 2002 for the Toulouse Blagnac Hockey Club in Division 2, the third French division. He then ended his career at the age of 39.

International

For France , Ylönen took part in the B World Championship in 1991 and the A World Championship in 1992 , 1993 , 1994 , 1995 and 1996 . He was also in France's squad at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville and 1994 in Lillehammer .
