Palatinate Mountain Run Cup

The Palatinate Mountain Run Cup is a sporting prize in Rhineland-Palatinate that has been awarded annually to the winner of the Palatinate Mountain Run series since 1998 . This consists of a cup series of seven mountain races , which are announced from spring to autumn in the Palatinate . The number of participants is in the range of several hundred.

Most of the time, athletes who specialize in mountains and are sometimes active in other endurance sports land on the top ranks. They include the two Christoph Fuhrbach , born in 1970 , who also takes part in long-distance and mountain bike races and, for example, won the half-marathon course of the German Wine Road marathon in 2002 , and the mountain biker Carsten Bresser , who also had a best marathon time of 2:24:18 Has to show hours.

One of the runs is alternately rated as the Palatinate Mountain Running Championship.

The series initially consisted of six races; the Rockie Mountain run was added in 2010 as seventh.

Regulations

The winner of each run receives 300 points. According to a formula that is controlled by the time lag, points are calculated for each additional participant. At least four completed races (currently seven) with at least one point are needed in the classification ( ranking to come). If you participate in more than four runs, the four best results per participant will be scored and added up.

The trophy is awarded to those who have achieved the highest number of points for men or women after completing the series.

The most successful participant is Sabine Rankel (* 1968), who initially started for TSG Eisenberg and later for LC Bad Dürkheim. She won the overall ranking eleven times between 1998 and 2010, and in 2001/2002 she took a two-year maternity leave . In the men's category, Matthias Hecktor (1. FC Kaiserslautern, then TuS Heltersberg), born in 1974, was the overall winner five times. Since 2012 Jonas Lehmann from TuS Heltersberg has won the mountain cup eight times in a row
