history

The village was first mentioned in 1442 as Pfaffenhayn . At that time the village belonged to the Grünhain monastery , with which the name is also associated. Pfaffenhain is and was mainly rural, whereby the inhabitants lived from cattle breeding, but also from stocking and weaving. In 1818 August Schumann reported on Pfaffenhain among other things:

Pfaffenhayn has 30 houses, which extend north for almost 1/4 hour; 14 of them are provided with field goods, but all are very well built, and the whole village has the distinct character of prosperity .

In the 19th century there were two grinding mills, one of which was connected to a cutting mill, and a large inn. There were also numerous ponds and some quarries on Steinberg. Around 1900, as part of industrialization, small stocking companies emerged, later also a lock factory for special locks, a shoe factory, a textile finishing company and a sheet metal forming plant.

Pfaffenhain was first assigned to Leukersdorf and then from 1548 to Kirchberg . In 1892 Pfaffenhain was parish back to Leukersdorf.

The previously independent village of Pfaffenhain was incorporated into Leukersdorf on December 11, 1974. Through the merger of Leukersdorf with Jahnsdorf, it became a district of the Jahnsdorf community on January 1, 1999.
