The parish church Ettendorf stands elevated on a mountain slope above Ettendorf in the market town of Lavamünd in the Wolfsberg district in Carinthia . The Roman Catholic parish church consecrated to St. Mark belongs to the Deanery St. Andrä in the diocese of Gurk-Klagenfurt . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The church was largely renovated after a fire in 1861. Only the Gothic choir with simple buttresses remains from the original building . The nave and the protruding facade tower date from the 19th century.

architecture

In the four-bay nave, a barrel vault with stitch caps rests on pilasters . The wooden west gallery stands on romanized columns. The one-bay choir with a five-eighth end is vaulted with a groin . In the two-storey sacristy extension on the north side, an oratory is housed on the upper storey . The 1904 stained glass windows in the choir depict St. John Nepomuk and the Madonna.

Furnishing

Most of the baroque furnishings date from the 19th century. The high altar contains a crucifixion group with Mary and John in the central niche and the figure of the Evangelist Mark in the top niche. The statues of the princes of the apostles Peter and Paul stand above the sacrificial passage portals .

The left side altar shows Saint Antonius Abbas in the middle picture and Saint Leonard in the top picture . The figures of Saints Nicholas and Blaise stand to the side . The right side altar shows Maria Immaculate in the main picture and Saint Joseph in the upper picture . The statues represent Saints Catherine and Barbara .

On the pulpit the statuettes of the four evangelists can be seen on the pulpit, the tablets of the law on the back wall of the pulpit and an angel blowing trumpets on the sound cover. The church also features a figural representation of a mercy seat and a console figure of St. Anthony Abbas. The former Biedermeier communion bench with inlays is now used as a popular altar .

Funerary monuments

  • In the south-west corner of the church, a stone from a Roman tomb with a scribe and vegetable ornament is walled in.
