Career

Phil Hill began his career as a hockey player in the junior division of the Cardiff Devils in his hometown, for whose second team, the Cardiff Rage, he played at the age of 15 in the British National League , the second highest division in the UK. In 2000 he made his debut for the Devils in the Ice Hockey Superleague , the top British league at the time, but still played mostly for the junior team, the Cardiff Satans, in the British U19 league. After his team had withdrawn from the Superleague to the BNL in 2001 for financial reasons, he moved to the Nottingham Lions in the fourth-class English National League after a few match days . In 2002 he returned to his hometown, where he was on the ice for the Devils, first in the BNL and from 2003 in the newly founded top British league, the Elite Ice Hockey League . With the exception of the 2006/07 season , which he spent with the Sheffield Steelers , he stayed in Wales until 2013 and won the Challenge Cup with the Devils in 2006 . In 2013 he went back to Sheffield and was able to win the EIHL playoffs with the Steelers in 2014 and the British championship for the first time in his career with the EIHL main round victory. In 2015 he went to the Telford Tigers in the English Premier Ice Hockey League , which he left in December 2016 to switch to league rivals Swindon Wildcats . After the dissolution of EPIHL, he has been playing with his club in the National Ice Hockey League since 2017 and won the Autumn Cup and the National Cup there in the first season .
