Philipp Marschall (born February 5, 1988 in Bad Salzungen ) is a German cross-country skier .

Philipp Marschall lives in Unteralba and starts for the Rhöner WSV Dermbach . The customs sergeant belongs to the German customs ski team . He was trained at the sports high school in Oberhof . He contested his first international races in cross-country skiing in 2005 as part of the Alpine Cup , later other races in lower-class FIS races followed . At the beginning of 2006 he reached the podium in an FIS race for the first time in Praz-de-Lys , a month later he won his first FIS race over the 10-kilometer classic in Girkhausen . In 2011 he won his second international men's race in the same discipline in Ramsau am Dachstein . At the 2007 Junior World Championships in Tarvisio , Marschall finished tenth in the 10-kilometer freestyle, a year later he was 24th in Malles on the classic route over the same distance and won the title of Junior World Champion in the 20-kilometer freestyle. He also won silver in the relay race with Hannes Dotzler , Thomas Bing and Tim Tscharnke . In 2009 he was 32nd in the U-23 competition in Praz-de-Lys over 15-kilometer freestyle and sixth in the pursuit race, in 2010 in Hinterzarten eleventh over 15-kilometer classic, in the pursuit race he finished 22nd in the U -23 World Championships 2011 in Otepää , Marschall reached 19th place in the pursuit.

In 2008 Marschall made his debut in Oberhof at the prologue of the Tour de Ski 2008/09 in the men's cross-country World Cup and was 59. At the World Cup races in Lahti 2010 , he achieved his best results in the highest racing series. In the pursuit he reached the points for the first and only time in 30th place, with Hannes Dotzler, Tobias Angerer and Tim Tscharnke he also reached the podium in the relay race with third place. At the German Championships in 2010 he won the silver medal three times. Until his last race in 2011 in Kuusamo , he was only able to build on this success once again when he was able to finish 29th in the pursuit race in Kuusamo in 2010 as part of the Nordic Opening , and decided to switch to biathlon for the 2012/13 season .

Marschall celebrated his first success in biathlon at the German Championships in 2013 when he won the title at the side of Christoph Stephan and Erik Lesser in the relay race as a representative of Thuringia. In the 2013/14 season he again took part in cross-country skiing races. He mainly competed in the Alpine Cup. At the 2015 German Cross-Country Ski Championships in Oberwiesenthal , he won bronze in the 10 km freestyle and silver in the sprint. In the 15 km pursuit race he became German champion.
