Philipp Richardsen (born May 3, 1976 in Vienna ) is an Austrian pianist .

Life

First piano lessons at the age of five were followed by studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (1993–2000) with Michael Krist and the University of California, Santa Barbara (2004–2007) with the Canadian pianist and Microsoft MVP Paul Berkowitz. He also passed his first law degree (candidatus iuris) at the University of Vienna and a Professional Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Harvard University . His dissertation deals with the subject of Franz Liszt's late piano works and their anticipation of musical ideas of the 20th century (The Late Piano Works of Franz Liszt And Their Anticipation of Musical Ideas of The Twentieth Century; ISBN 978-0-549-15238-5 ).

Living in South Korea since 2007, Richardsen was appointed professor of piano at Mokwon University in Daejeon in 2008 and was also a lecturer at Kookmin University and Yonsei University , both in Seoul . Winner of international piano competitions (International Liszt Competition Los Angeles, Palma d'oro, Concours Grieg and others) and a sought-after guest on Korean television, he has been a regular guest speaker and coach for young managers at the Samsung Group since 2011 . Concert performances include New York's Carnegie Hall , the Harpa Concert Hall , the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Gasteig in Munich, the Wiener Musikverein , the Seoul Arts Center , the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts , Esplanade - Theaters on the Bay in Singapore and the Sydney Opera House . Since 2015 he has presented The Classical Collection , a weekly radio show on TBS eFM (Korea).

He is the grandson of the German CDU politician Carl Richardsen .
