The Piaggio P.148 was a trainer aircraft produced by the Italian manufacturer Piaggio .

History and construction

The P.148 is a two-seater cantilever all-metal low-wing aircraft with a fixed tail wheel landing gear . Teachers and students sit next to each other under the two-part cockpit hood, with the possibility of installing a third seat. The prototype first flew on February 12, 1951. After extensive tests by the Italian Air Force , it was ordered as a beginner's training aircraft. The Piaggio P.149 is a four-seat development . The machine was used by the Italian Air Force until 1970, when the training of Air Force pilots was changed. Some machines were then sold to the Somali Air Force.
