The Piaggio P.16 was a heavy bomber made by the Italian manufacturer Piaggio .

History and construction

The P.16 was a three-engine monoplane with articulated wings . Its wings were made relatively thick and the tail unit was set high. It had a tail wheel landing gear, whereby the main landing gear could be retracted. In addition to the bombs, their armament consisted of four 7.62-millimeter machine guns, two of which were mounted in the leading edges of the wings, one in a retractable gun stand on the fuselage and one in the rear fuselage under the tail unit. The bombardier was located behind the bow motor on the underside of the hull.
