Pier Giacomo De Nicolò

Pier Giacomo De Nicolò (born March 11, 1929 in Cattolica , Province of Rimini , Italy ) is a former diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Pier Giacomo De Nicolò was ordained a priest on April 12, 1952 . From 1956 to 1958 he graduated from the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy . Pope Paul VI bestowed on him on June 21, 1963 the honorary title of Surplus Chamberlain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) and on February 29, 1972 the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness .

August 14, 1984 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To Titular Archbishop of Martanae Tudertinorum and Apostolic Nuncio in Costa Rica .

Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Cardinal Casaroli donated him episcopal ordination on October 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Curia Bishop Eduardo Martínez Somalo and Giovanni Locatelli , Bishop of San Marino-Montefeltro and Rimini .

On February 11, 1993 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Syria . On January 21, 1999, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Switzerland and Liechtenstein . Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on September 8, 2004.

His brothers, Paolo and Mariano , are or were also bishops.
