Mariano De Nicolò (born January 22, 1932 in Cattolica , Province of Rimini , Italy , † April 11, 2020 in Coriano ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Rimini .

Life

Mariano De Nicolò was the third of eight children of Giuseppe De Nicolò and Teresina nee. Vanni from Cattolica, on the Adriatic Riviera in the province of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna . Two of his brothers are Bishops Paolo and Pier Giacomo . After his theological training, Mariano De Nicolò was ordained a priest for the diocese of Rimini on April 9, 1955 .

From 1962 to 1965 he was assistant to Pericle Felici , general secretary of the Second Vatican Council . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Rimini and San Marino-Montefeltro on July 8, 1989. The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Rosalio José Castillo Lara SDB on 23 September of the same year; Co- consecrators were Ersilio Tonini , Archbishop of Ravenna-Cervia , and Pier Giacomo De Nicolò , Apostolic Nuncio in Costa Rica . He resigned from his office as Bishop of San Marino-Montefeltro on May 25, 1995. On July 3, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation. Mariano De Nicolò was also involved in 2004 for the beatifications of Alberto Marvelli in Loreto by Pope John Paul II (2004) and Sister Maria Rosa Pellesi in the Cathedral in Rimini (2007). On November 9, 2006, Monsignor De Nicolò received honorary citizenship from the Municipality of Rimini .
