National team

Oneto initially played 13 international matches for the junior national team in his home country and won bronze at the South American Games in 2002 with the U-21 team . Later he was a member of the senior squad and was their captain from 2011 to 2019.

With the team, he took part in three world championships , in which Chile, as expected, achieved placements in the lower end of the field of 24 participants: 2011 (22nd place), 2015 (23rd place) and 2019 (16th place). He missed the World Championships in 2013 and 2017 due to injury.

Third places have been won in a row at various Pan American and South American competitions: twice at the Pan American Games ( 2011 and 2015 ), the South American Games ( 2014 and 2018 ) and three times at the Pan American Championships ( 2012 , 2014 and 2018 ). At the Pan American Games in 2019 , the silver medal could also be won for the first time. Afterwards, he ended his national team career, but changed his mind again and already played again at the South and Central American Championship 2020 .

In 2014 he was appointed to a world team under coach Slavko Goluža , for which he could not appear due to a leg injury. In 2012 (also as the best player ) and 2014 he was selected for the selection of the Pan American Championships.

Oneto played 125 international matches in which he scored 178 goals. Especially in the early years of his career he missed numerous internationals and tournaments, as the tournaments in particular were difficult to bring in line with his obligations at European clubs.
