Piermario Morosini (born July 5, 1986 in Bergamo , † April 14, 2012 in Pescara ) was an Italian football player .

Career

societies

Morosini started his career in the youth of Polisportiva Monterosso and then moved to the Primavera team of Atalanta Bergamo , with whom he won a championship in the youth field in ten years. In the summer of 2004, he left Atalanta Bergamo and moved to Serie A at Udinese Calcio , where he played his first professional season at the age of 19. Morosini made his Serie A debut under Serse Cosmi in the 2005/06 season on October 23, 2005 against Inter Milan and came to five league games for Udine by the end of the season. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season he left Udinese and moved on loan to Bologna in the Serie B, where he came to 16 season appearances during the season. In July 2007 and his return to Udinese he was awarded again and went to Vicenza Calcio , where he had a good share in the relegation of Vicenza in Serie B with his 34 games. In his second year on loan, he played 32 games for Vicenza in the 2008-09 season before returning to Udine in June 2009.

On August 31, 2009, Morosini was awarded again, this time to Reggina Calcio , where he played in 17 Serie B games. In December 2009 he returned to Udinese Calcio and moved on February 1, 2010 on loan to Calcio Padova , where he played the 2009/10 season to the end. After Morosini appeared in 13 games for Padova, he returned to Udine. However, he was injured in the first half of the 2010/11 season to no use and moved in January 2011 on loan to Vicenza Calcio . He played 15 games for Vicenza and was twelfth in Serie B. In the summer of 2011, Morosini returned and played for Udinese Calcio in Serie A until the winter break. On the last day of the winter transfer period, January 31, 2012, he switched on loan to AS Livorno , where he made eight appearances until his death in April 2012.

International

From 2001 Morosini was a regular member of the squad of Italian junior selections; In 2003 he took part with the U-17 in the U-17 European Championship in Portugal. For the Italian U-21 team , he played a total of 18 international matches from 2006 to 2009 and was part of the squad at the U-21 European Championship in Sweden in 2009 .

Private life

After his mother died in 2001 and his father in 2003, Morosini cared for his disabled sister and a disabled brother from 2003, who, however, committed suicide shortly after the death of his parents . After Morosini's death, his club Udinese Calcio, together with the former Morosini clubs, took over the costs of housing his disabled sister. The Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale also took over the guardianship of his friend's sister.

Circumstances of death

14 April 2012 Morosini suffered during the match of his club AS Livorno against Delfino Pescara 1936 a cardiac arrest . Despite resuscitation efforts, he died a short time later in hospital. After the autopsy, a genetic heart defect or an inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis) was assumed as an alternative . An initially suspected heart attack could be ruled out.

As a result of Morosini's death, the Italian Football Federation FIGC canceled the Serie A and Serie B games for the weekend of April 14th and 15th, 2012. The National Olympic Committee of Italy ( CONI ) ordered a minute's silence for all sporting events over the weekend .
