Pierre Blanchard (born May 24, 1956 in Saint-Quentin ) is a French jazz musician ( violin , composition ).

Blanchard received classical instrumental training at the Saint-Quentin Conservatory, which he graduated with honors in 1971. He then studied at the Université Musicale Internationale de Paris , where he also received a First Prize for his academic achievements. He played mid-1970s when Didier Levallets Swing strings system , in Jacques Thollot Quintet and five years in the Big Band of Martial Solal ; The first recordings were made in 1978 with the singer Christine Combe ( Camerawoman ). In 1985 he presented the album Each One Teach One with his own compositions under his own name . In 1986 he recorded the album Music for String Quartet, Jazz Trio, Violin and Lee Konitz ( Sunnyside 1987), which included Konitz and a string quartet with Alain Jean-Marie , Cesarius Alvim , André Ceccarelli and Alain Hatot. The albums Voyages (1987) and Gipsy Touch (1991) were created with Raphaël Faÿs . In the 1980s and 1990s he played a. a. with Pierre Michelot ( Bass and Bosses , EmArcy), René Urtreger ( Serena ), Eric Le Lann , Patrice Caratini ( Hard Scores ), Santos Chillemi and with Les P'tits Loups du Jazz under the direction of Oliver Caillard. In the 2000s he worked with the Metropole Orkest ( Freeze! ), Paul van Kemenade ( No Way Station ), Dorado Schmitt ( Rendez-vous ) and Didier Lockwood . In 2012 he performed with the Django Festival Allstars (including Anat Cohen , Dorado Schmitt and Samson Schmitt ). In the field of jazz, he was involved in 23 recording sessions between 1978 and 2017.
