Pierre Le Fort , also: Pierre Lefort , Peter von Le Fort or Pierre Chevalier de Le Fort , Russian Пётр Лефорт (born March 14, jul. / 24. March  1676 greg. In Geneva , † May 7 jul. / May 18  1754 greg. In Möllenhagen ) was a Geneva military in Russian service .

Life

origin

The family Le Fort were Huguenots who from the Piedmont had fled to Geneva and had come there as merchants to wealth and prestige. His parents were the Geneva State Councilor Ami Lefort (1635-1719) and his wife Madeleine Mestrezat (1688-1702) , who was raised to the rank of imperial knighthood by Emperor Leopold I. He was a nephew and main heir of François Le Fort , who, as a confidante of Tsar Peter I, was the first Russian admiral .

career

He joined the Russian military in 1694 and 1696 at the suggestion of his uncle. He accompanied Peter the Great's mission to Holland in the rank of secretary . In 1700 he was captured after the battle of Narva and brought to Stockholm by the Swedes . Most recently, he held the rank of lieutenant general from 1709 .

In 1733 or 1743 Le Fort withdrew to the Möllenhagen , Marin, Rethwisch , Lehsten , Bocksee and Klockow estates in Mecklenburg . He became the founder of the Mecklenburg family line, whose work then took place in northern Germany.

family

Le Fort married Elisabeth Justine de Weide, daughter of the Russian general Adam van der Weyde (1667–1720) , in 1713 in Smolensk . His second marriage was in 1717 with Sophia Amalie von Barner , daughter of Friedrich von Barner auf Ganzkow and Lucia von Jasmund . The second marriage resulted in two sons and two daughters.
