Pinhal Novo is a Portuguese freguesia in the district (concelho) Palmela with 25,000 (as of June 30, 2011) inhabitants on 54.4 km², that is 459 per km².
The place is located on the Península de Setúbal halfway between Lisbon and Setúbal .
It is located on two expressways that connect Lisbon to the south and has a new train station, from which, since October 2004, the Lisbon subway network can be reached in half an hour. Pinhal Novo is close to the Arrabida National Park and has a diversified infrastructure with shopping centers including the Forum Montijo and the free port of Alcochete . With the Pinhal Novo train station, the city has the most important railway junction in the south of Lisbon . Here the Linha do Sul meet the Linha do Alentejo as well as the suburban connection to Barreiro and the now decommissioned Ramal do Montijo connection .
The city is growing rapidly and in a few years will have developed from a small village to a city of 40,000. It benefits from its new infrastructure; Due to the quality of life, large buildings are not allowed.
