Piotr Hojka (born June 12, 1984 in Bydgoszcz , Poland ) is a Polish rower .
Career
Hojka began rowing in 1999, but initially could not recommend himself in the junior class for international competitions. It was not until 2004 that he started internationally for the first time at the U23 World Championships in Poznan, Poland, where he finished 6th in the four-man team . In the two following years he remained in the junior division, starting in the Polish junior eight without winning a medal.
In 2007, Hojka established himself in the adult age group and also started in the Polish eighth for the first time at the Rowing World Cup . However, he was not yet able to secure a permanent place in the top team and started later that year with Jarosław Godek in two without a helmsman at the World Cup as well as at the World Championships in Munich and the re-introduced European Championships in Poznan. The duo won the silver medal in the European championships. Also in the Olympic season, Godek and Hojka rowed together in two-without. After the World Cups, however, they rowed to last and 14th place in the field at the 2008 Summer Olympics , and they were unsuccessful with 6th place at the subsequent European Championships in Athens.
In the new Olympic cycle, some places were vacant in the Polish eighth. Hojka was able to establish himself as a new regular and subsequently win several European Championship medals and titles. At the European Championships in Belarus in 2009 , the team became European champions for the first time, followed by an EM silver medal in 2010 . The Polish eighth also won the European title fights in 2011 and 2012 with Hojka on board. At the world championships they were not that successful and finished fourth in the 2009 championships in Poznan, eighth in 2010 and another fifth in the pre-Olympic season 2011 . In 2012, Hojka was able to take part in the Summer Olympics for the second time with the eighth . In London, however, the team with Marcin Brzeziński , Piotr Juszczak , Mikołaj Burda , Piotr Hojka, Zbigniew Schodowski , Michał Szpakowski , Krystian Aranowski , Rafał Hejmej and helmsman Daniel Trojanowski missed the final and took 7th place.
Even after the games in Great Britain, Hojka initially continued his career in the Polish eighth. At the European Championships in 2013 he reached silver, also the team rowed on two fourth places at the World Championships in 2013 and European Championships 2014 . Then Hojka was ousted from eighth, already at the 2014 World Championships in Amsterdam he had to take a place in the weaker four-man without a place, which only reached 16th place. At two other international starts in four-without and two-without at the European Championship and World Cup 2015 , there was also no success.
Hojka starts for the clubs Bydgostia Bydgoszcz and AZS-AWF Gorzów Wielkopolski . At a height of 2.02 m, his competition weight is around 103 kg.
