Pisselberg is a district of the town of Dannenberg (Elbe) in the joint municipality of Elbtalaue in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony .

The village is located 1.5 km northwest of the core area of Dannenberg on a flat, elongated elevation in the Jeetzel lowlands. The Jeetzel , which is dammed up towards the village side, flows past the southwestern edge of the village. The Hitzacker-Dannenberg railway line runs along a dam on the northern edge of the settlement.

history

On the night of August 21 to 22, 1847, the village apparently burned down completely, as is evident from numerous house inscriptions. Subsequently, the reconstruction took place by thinning out the old settlement core and extending it like a village along the road to Dannenberg. Several of the four-column hall houses with their gables were not facing the village street, but facing the Aue (“march”). The later construction of the railway line (1869–73) cut off direct access to the lowlands for these houses. The core of today's townscape has changed very little compared to the reconstruction time of 1848. In the southeast, however, the town was later expanded with a few new buildings.

On July 1, 1972, Pisselberg was incorporated into the city of Dannenberg (Elbe).

The Dannenberg-Pisselberg transmitter, a transmission system for medium-wave broadcasting, was in operation from 1978 to 1998. In 2014 the mast was dismantled.
