Schaafhausen is a district of the town of Dannenberg (Elbe) in the joint municipality of Elbtalaue in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony .
The village is 1.5 km southwest of the core area of Dannenberg on the B 248 . In terms of natural space, it is on the border between the Geest moraine of the Drawehn in the west and the Lüchower low terrace with the Jeetzel lowlands in the east.
history
Schaafhausen was a fully developed Rundlingdorf until it was almost completely destroyed by a large fire on June 20, 1824. The reconstruction was carried out systematically as a one-line street village along the former Poststrasse (today B 248), with generous distances between the properties as passive protection against fire. Structurally, it is a four-column hall house with a commercial gable facing the street. These (originally twelve) wide courtyard parcels are on the east side, while smaller outbuildings have been built on the opposite side of the street.
On July 1, 1972, Schaafhausen was incorporated into the city of Dannenberg (Elbe).
