The Piz Duleda (occasionally Piz Duledes or Piz Doledes ) is a 2909 m high mountain in the South Tyrolean Dolomites .
Location and surroundings
The Piz Duleda is located in the South Tyrolean Dolomites ( Italy ) in the extreme northwest of the Puez group . With a height of 2909 m, it is the second highest mountain in this mountain range. While it drops steeply to the north into the Campilltal , a ridge leads to the east to the two Puez peaks (west summit: 2918 m , east summit 2913 m ). The mountain structure is limited to the south by the Nives-Scharte ( 2740 m ), in the west the Roa-Scharte ( 2617 m ) separates the Piz Duleda from the Kanzeln ( 2718 m ) and thus the Puez from the Geisler group .
The southern flank of Piz Duleda lies in the area of the Val Gardena communities of St. Christina and Selva , while the northern flank belongs to St. Martin in Thurn . The mountain is under protection as part of the Puez-Geisler Nature Park .
Alpinism
The summit is accessible via a path that leads up from the Nives-Scharte over the broad south ridge. The Nives-Scharte, in turn, can be reached from three sides: from the Puezalm to the east and the Puezhütte ( 2475 m ), secured with a few holding ropes from the southern Sielesscharte ( 2505 m ) or from the north-west Roa-Scharte up via a short one as little tricky described ferrata . The summit can also be reached in around three hours from the Regensburger Hütte to the west , with a challenging route via the Roa-Scharte and the Nives via ferrata or, alternatively, an easier route via the Sielesscharte.
Surname
Piz is a Romansh word for peak , summit . The word Duleda goes on a Partizipbildung the Gardena Ladin verb Dule (Latin dolare ) with the meaning trimmed , cut back and refers to the shape of the rock.
Since the Piz Duleda is occasionally counted among the Puez peaks, it also appears as the western Puez peak , which turns the otherwise so-called 2918 m high peak into the middle Puez peak .
