Placido Maria Tadini OCD (originally Luigi Placido Tadini ; born October 11, 1759 in Moncalvo , † November 22, 1847 in Genoa ) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Church and Archbishop of Genoa .

Life

As a youth, Tardini entered the order of the Discalced Carmelites . After he was ordained a subdeacon on November 12, 1780 , he completed a degree in theology with a master's degree. He was ordained priest on September 21, 1782 in Rome, after which he worked as a lecturer for moral theology, as a consultor of the Index Congregation and as an examiner of the Roman clergy for aptitude for academic teaching. He was also vice-general of his order.

On August 13, 1829, Tadini was appointed Bishop of Biella . He was ordained bishop on October 18, 1829 by Cardinal Francesco Bertazzoli , co- consecrators were the Archbishops of the Curia, Luigi Bottiglia Savoulx and Giovanni Soglia Ceroni . On October 20, 1829, Pius VIII appointed him papal assistant to the throne . In 1831 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Genoa and from July 2, 1832 until his death in 1847 he was Archbishop of Genoa . Pope Gregory XVI created him on April 6, 1835 as cardinal priest with the titular church Santa Maria in Traspontina . Tadini did not take part in the conclave of 1846 .

According to a surviving engraving, the cardinal was one of the holders of the Knightly Order of St. Mauritius and Lazarus .
