Plateau is a department of Benin with the capital Sakété . The city has not yet been officially named the capital, but performs all functions of the capital.
geography
The department is located in the south-east of the country and is bordered by the Collines department to the north, the Ouémé department to the south, the Zou department to the west and Nigeria to the east .

Ethnic groups
The largest peoples are the Nagot with 45.7%, the Holli with 20.9% and the Gun with 12.4% of the population.
Religions
A majority of 75% of the population is Christian (including 51% Catholics, 13% the Eglise de Céleste and 11% the Methodists). The followers of Islam have left behind the members of the Voudou cult with a share of 17.8% with 11.6% (although many Christians and Muslims also cultivate this).

Plateau was created in 1999 when it separated from the Ouémé department .
