On the southwestern outskirts of the city, US Highway 151 , which has been developed into a freeway and forms the shortest connection between Dubuque and Madison, runs in a southwest-northeast direction . In the center of Platteville, Wisconsin Highways 80 and 81 and a number of lower streets meet.
