Playboi Carti (born September 13, 1996 in Atlanta , Georgia ; real name Jordan Terrell Carter ) is an American rapper.

biography

Jordan Carter began rapping under the name Sir Cartier while he was in high school . He had success with his first songs locally and on the Internet, and at 17 he released the mixtape Young Misfit . At South by Southwest he met ASAP Rocky , who introduced him to the ASAP Mob collective and supported him from then on. He moved to New York after graduating from high school and released the singles Broke Boi and Fetti , with which he made a name for himself on the Internet. He went on tour with ASAP Ferg and Lil Uzi Vert . He signed a record deal with Interscope , participated in two mixtapes of the ASAP Mob and finally released his first label mixtape with his new rapper name Playboi Carti as the title in spring 2017 . He went straight to number 12 on the album charts and made it into the top 10 of the rap charts. He also received a gold award for sales . The tape contained two hits: Woke Up like This with Lil Uzi Vert went platinum and made it into the single charts as did Magnolia , which even reached number 29 and double platinum.

A year after the Mixtape brought Carti his debut album, The Lit out. Nicki Minaj , Young Thug , Skepta and Travis Scott were among the guests . It rose to number 3 on the charts and was also successful in Europe and Australia. The included song Shoota with Lil Uzi Vert was his third single charter success .
