Studio 100 is a Flemish company that produces popular children's television series. The company also owns several amusement parks under the brand name Plopsa .

history

Studio 100 was founded in 1996 by Gert Verhulst , Danny Verbiest and Hans Bourlon .

When they started Studio 100 in 1996, they first had a series called Samson and Gert. Immediately they decided to create another series to make themselves better known. They produced the series Kabauter Plop , which has been broadcast on VTM since 1997 .

In 1999 the company expanded suddenly. Four new projects have started in Flanders: a musical , a feature film and two television series. VTM was asked if they would like to support the musical and the feature film financially. In October of the same year, Studio 100 and VMMa (Vlaamse Media Maatschappij) announced that they were converting the Meli-Park theme park into what is now Plopsaland De Panne .

Studio 100 took over the popular girl group K3 from Niels William in 2000 .

Danny Verbiest announced in 2005 that he no longer wanted to play the role of Samson from Samson and Gert. Shortly thereafter, he announced his resignation from Studio 100. In the following years many more series were started, such as Piet Pirat , Mega Mindy , Spring (TV soap), Das Haus Anubis and many more. Also in 2005 was the purchase of the Belgian amusement park TéléCoo at the waterfalls of Coo , which was converted into "Plopsa Coo" for the 2007 season. In addition, the studio's first indoor park, the “Plopsa Indoor” in Hasselt , was opened on Christmas Eve of the same year .

In 2007, Studio 100 began releasing some of its productions in other countries. Wir3 (a copy of K3 ) was launched in Germany, where it immediately hit the charts . In addition, Fred & Samson, the French-speaking equivalent of Samson and Gert, was broadcast on the French TV channel Club RTL in the Walloon Region and in Brussels. Furthermore, a series called Bumba , which is about a clown, was sold to other countries.

In 2008, Studio 100 bought EM.Entertainment GmbH from EM.Sport Media along with its rights to some foreign 1970s TV hits such as Heidi , Wickie , Die Biene Maja and Pippi Longstocking and produced new computer-animated editions of such series:

Amusement parks

Studio 100 operates several amusement parks under the brand name Plopsa . In April 2010, the Plopsa Indoor in Dalen near Coevorden, the studio's first amusement park outside of Belgium, opened. On November 3, 2010, Studio 100 announced the purchase of the Holiday Park in Germany. The amusement parks are visited by around 2.5 million guests each year and have a turnover of around 50 million euros per year (as of 2010).
