Podlesí , until 1948 Valdorf (German Walldorf ) is a district of Sněžné in the Czech Republic. It is located two kilometers north of Sněžné and belongs to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .

geography

The scattered settlement Podlesí extends in the southeast of the Saar Mountains on the western slope of Vysoký Kopec ( High Mountain , 806 m) on the right side over the valley of the Blatinský creek to the valley of the Svratka . The Moravian town is located immediately south of the historical border with Bohemia formed by the course of the Svratka. To the north rises the Čtyří Palice (732 m), in the southeast of the Buchtův Kopec ( Lion Mountain , 813 m), in the south Na Vrších (726 m) and to the west the Devět Skal (836 m).

Neighboring towns are Březiny and Světy in the northeast, Krásné and Mrhov in the east, Zálesí, Sanatorium Buchtův Kopec and Daňkovice in the southeast, Sněžné and Krátká in the south, Blatiny in the southwest, Milovy in the west and Moravské Křižánky and České Milovy in the northwest.

history

The place was created during the last phase of colonization in the area. When the Ingrowitz rule was taken up in 1750, it was not yet recorded. The village was probably founded before 1778, when Marie Antonie von Waldorf was the owner of Ingrowitz and is named after her. Other interpretations suggest that the settlement created in the Krasna Forest should have been named Walddorf . The place was probably laid out by loggers who cut wood for the iron and glass works and made the Paseken forest arable.

The first written mention was made in 1794 as Zwaldorf . The oldest local seal also comes from this year. In the following the village was also referred to as Kutiny , Walldorf , Walldorf-Milovy and Valdorf . In 1825 the trade route from Nové Město na Moravě to Svratka was established west of Walldorf . In addition to forestry work, the residents lived off linen bleaching and flax spinning. Until 1848 the place remained subordinate to Ingrowitz. The owners were the Counts Belcredi.

After the abolition of patrimonial Valdorf formed a district of the municipality Krásná in the political district of Neustadtl from 1850 . The municipality of Valdorf was established in 1922. In 1948 the name of the village was changed to Podlesí , and the group of houses in the woods on the western slope of Buchtův Kopec was given the name Zálesí . At the beginning of 1949 Podlesí was assigned to the Okres Polička and in 1961 the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1962 it was incorporated into Sněžné . In 1991 the place had 21 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 26 houses in which 13 people lived.
