history

The course of the Svratka formed the historical border between Bohemia and Moravia ; On the Bohemian side, the scattered settlement Křižánky was established in the 14th century. Later the Lords of Pernstein also cleared the forest on the Moravian side opposite Křižánky and founded a settlement of the same name.

The first written mention of the Moravian Křižánky took place in 1437, when Johann von Pernstein left the village together with other places to his wife Barbara von Waldstein as a morning gift. In 1500, after the division of the Pernstein rulership, the town became part of Neustadtl - Ingrowitz . The judge in Nemetzky had exercised lower jurisdiction since the 16th century . In 1564 the village became part of the Neustadtl lordship. After the death of Vratislav von Pernstein , his sons Johann and Maximilian sold the indebted Neustadtl estate to Wilhelm Dubský von Třebomyslice in 1587. Dubský lost its property after the Battle of White Mountain in 1624, and Cardinal Franz Xaver von Dietrichstein became the new landlord . A glassworks was built in the 17th century, which went out around 1740. In 1638 the reign of Neustadtl came to Simon Kratzer von Schönsberg. Mining of magnetite iron ore was started under the Schönsberg scratches and an iron hammer was set up. When Franz Maximilian Kratzer von Schönberg died in 1679, he left behind large debts and the rule was passed on to the administration of one of the main creditors, Prince Ferdinand von Dietrichstein . His son Leopold left the rule in 1699 to the aristocratic Maria Schul family in Brno . The oldest local seal is from 1743; it showed a large paw cross surrounded by four small ones. Until the middle of the 19th century, Krzižanek was always subject to the Neustadtl lordship.

After the abolition of patrimonial Křižánky formed from 1850 with the districts Cikánka , Cikanecká, Fixův Mlýn and Svratka a municipality in the judicial district of Neustadtl. From 1862 the community belonged to the Neustadtl district. The iron hammer was shut down in 1874. After the glass and iron industry had ceased to exist, filing was the main source of income for the residents. The district of Svratka broke away in the 1870s and formed its own municipality under the name Novoměstská Svratka . To better distinguish it from the Bohemian municipality of the same name, Křižánky was renamed Moravské Křižánky at the end of the 19th century ; likewise the district Cikánka received the new name Moravská Cikánka . In Moravské Křižánky the origin of skiing was probably in the Vysočina; As early as 1886 the teacher Houdek and Forstmann Resch used boards imported from Norway. In the 20th century, Moravské Křižánky developed into a resort. The district Moravská Cikánka was umgemeindet to Svratka in 1950. In the course of the municipal reform of 1960 Moravské Křižánky and České Křižánky were merged to form a municipality Křižánky and assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . Between 1980 and 1990 Křižánky was incorporated into Sázava. After the Velvet Revolution , the municipalities of České Křižánky and Moravské Křižánky emerged. In 2002, České Křižánky (with České Milovy) and Moravské Křižánky merged again to form one municipality Křižánky.

Moravské Křižánky has been a village monument reserve since 1995.
