occupation

Zapfenstreich is a television film from the crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The report, produced on behalf of Bayerischer Rundfunk and directed by Christoph Stark , was first broadcast on May 9, 2010 on ARD's first program. It is the 313rd episode of the crime series, as well as the third and last case with Ulrike Steiger as an investigator.

action

After the tragic death of her mentor Friedl Papen, Ulrike Steiger is assigned a new chief inspector. Lars Reiter is initially not enthusiastic about his new position, but soon notices the qualities of his colleague. Their first joint mission leads to another death in the armed forces. A young soldier who was just completing a course to prepare for a foreign assignment was found dead in her Munich apartment. After initial examinations, Silke Schubert died of a broken neck and was six weeks pregnant.

First of all, Steiger and Reiter question their company sergeant Melzer, who obviously didn't think much of his soldier. Together with her comrades Rosie, Heike and Inka, she was determined to be sent to a foreign assignment, which Melzer was constantly trying to block. Since Melzer is not very cooperative, Steiger asks her father for support so that she can ask around more in the barracks and among the soldiers. In doing so, she can convince herself of Melzer's sometimes unworthy methods. She even witnesses how Heike and Rosie are shot at during a combat exercise. The alleged friend Inka also seems to play a role, who, unlike her two comrades, is a tough lone fighter.

Meanwhile, Lars Reiter concentrates on Deniz, the father of Silke's little daughter, to whom she had given custody of the child, but which she now wanted back. Deniz behaves quite conspicuously and tries to evade the inspector's questions. When Reiter does not give up, the suspect admits to have quarreled with Silke, but there would have been no more than a slap in the face. The inspector still considers him to be the culprit and brings Steiger the results of his investigation. However, she decides to stay with the troop, as she is sure that she is on to a secret. She clashes with Melzer, who knocks her out and is then arrested. During the interrogation it turns out that Inka had shot at her comrades because she wanted to prove to the instructor that she had no scruples. Rosie runs amok during interrogation. She fears that she will soon be exposed because she had killed Silke in an affect because she had found out that her boyfriend René had cheated on her and that he was the father of Silke's child. In the argument with Rosie, Steiger is forced to shoot Rosie, who then dies.

Steiger is getting more and more doubts as to whether this job in the police force is the right one for her. She fled the armed forces because of the violence and has to realize that not much has changed for her. Without further ado, she gives up her police career and leaves.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv writes appreciatively: “'Zapfenstreich' brings the Stappenbeck intermezzo to the Bavarian 'Polizeiruf 110' with decency. It's always a shame. With Jörg Hube at her side, something very unique could have been created. She is a top-class actor. "

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm believe that this police call is a “riot thriller that denounces misogyny in the ranks of the Bundeswehr regardless of casualties. Certainly pointed, but entertaining. "
