The Portland Eagles were an American ice hockey franchise of the Pacific Coast Hockey League based in Portland , Oregon .
history
The Portland Eagles were founded as a franchise for the Pacific Coast Hockey League for the 1944/45 season . In their first three seasons in the PCHL they occupied one of the first two places in the North Division in the regular season, but then could not prevail in the playoffs for the Lester Patrick Cup . For the 1949/50 season , the team changed their name to Portland Penguins, but returned to their original name Portland Eagles for the following season . After a total of seven years in the PCHL, the Eagles stopped playing in 1951.
