The first music album by Rockhaus after their comeback is positive . It was created for the band's 30th anniversary. The album was released on October 2, 2009.

History of origin

In an interview with deutsche-mugge.de , Mike Kilian explains that the idea for the reunion came about in a conversation with Tobias Künzel von der Prinzen . The Prinzen were looking for a support band for their Freiberg Prinzen Tour , which was to take place in 2005. Künzel, who plays with Kilian in Final Stap , wanted Rockhaus to be the opening act. Then Kilian wrote to the other Rockhaus members and everyone was immediately enthusiastic. The former quarrels were forgotten, everyone had advanced their own career and had become more mature in the process.

“The last time I got a call from 'Reini' almost a year ago was that I was very astonished. He asked: 'Listen, don't we want to make a new record? It's our 30th anniversary and it would be nice if we look into the future with new songs. ' At first I was flabbergasted and answered: 'Why not?'. Then you met, and it took a while until you got it all right, with the studio and songwriting. But the result is that we are almost finished with our new album. "

Kilian also explained in the interview why they only play in the east of the republic. So far they have only had two short tours in the old federal states. They worked together with Teldec , which were incorporated into EastWest in 1990 and numerous artist contracts were terminated. A financing of the concerts was therefore no longer clarified, as they had lost the connection to the West with the termination. Rockhaus joined the ranks of the most successful bands in the GDR, which were hardly noticed after reunification. This is also processed in the lyrics of the band.

"You believed that luck can be bought / you believed everything would go on like this / for all eternity / you actually believed it / poor pig."

- Lyrics to Sooner or Later

The songwriting took place in several steps. Normally, each piece was worked on individually, which means that everyone first worked out ideas that he made available to the others. Then the band met with the prepared demos , which singer Mike Kilian had added vocals and / or lyrics. Another meeting in the Metromusikstudio with Carsten beathoven Mohren served to work out the pieces, which was followed by the final recording. The individual songs were not recorded together, but around each other. At the mixing, on the other hand, all members were present again.

Cover design

The cover shows the band in white shirts and black pants in front of a darkened sky with an airplane flying overhead. The band logo is shown in the upper right corner, a stylized "R".

Music style and lyrics

The album was mixed by Ingo Politz and Bernd Wendlandt , who were already very successful with Silbermond and Bell, Book & Candle . Musically, Rockhaus continued their rock style before the dissolution, which, however, sounded "modern" according to their own statements. In addition, some ballads were recorded. For the first time also brings drummer Michael Haberstroh with very back a title in the album one:

"Hey guys, this is the story of me / who sits in the back and drums like an animal / I'll give you the groove / show you where it's going and sometimes too much / I sit in the back but you ignore me / because I'm just the drumstick / but I do know exactly / you understand me / because sometimes I can be seen through. / ........... / I'm Heinzi and I'm sitting in the back "

- Lyrics to Always Behind

Rockhaus also deals with world peace in her texts:

"War solves problems / keeps the machines on their toes / war has human genes / is like food for free / we can't get enough of hunger / and fall like lemmings completely obscured / into our own grave. / .... / our world is so simple and naive. "

- Lyrics to war

In their texts they also deal with consumer behavior under capitalism:

"Take a rich old man / someone who can offer you something / then put a few children in his nest / fix me a job as a gardener / you'll see how it can be so much better."

- Lyrics to Live Better

reception

The journalist Christian Reder describes the band as follows:

"With Mike Kilian, the group has one of the best singers in our country in their ranks, behind whom the many thin voices from the casting world and from artificially grown plastic bands can only hide."

- German Mugge.de

Article in "Ostrock News" at the start of the tour on "Positiv".

“20 years after their most famous work ILD, Rockhaus are back in business. And they work as powerfully as one could hope for. Of course, everything is geared towards the distinctive voice of Mike Kilian, who refines all but one song with his singing. The songwriting, however, was on different shoulders. “Everyone is allowed” may have been the motto, but this does not change the homogeneity of positive. Rockhaus have stayed true to themselves and continue to deliver solidly - what else? - Rock sounds. "
